Product Testing & Analysis

AN EXTENSIVE LABORATORY WITH OVER 70 YEARS TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE WITHIN THE TEAM IS A VITAL PART OF OUR OPERATIONS.

ALL MANUFACTURING AND AFTER SALES SUPPORT IS DRIVEN FROM OUR FULLY EQUIPPED LABORATORY BASED AT HEAD OFFICE IN HALESOWEN.

At Midland Oil Group Ltd, based in Halesowen we have a team of research and development chemists, quality control chemists and product analysis chemists all capable of supporting aftermarket sales. At Midland Oil Group we are firm believers that regular testing to all products decreases downtime to our customers out in the field. Our Area Sales Managers and UK Technicians are all on hand to take routine samples to analyse the condition of your oils.

QUALITY CONTROL LEAD MANUFACTURING

As part of our ISO9001 accreditation, we pride ourselves with the highest level of Quality Control. All incoming raw materials are tested before acceptance, blended batches passed before packaging, and decanted goods are then tested and passed once again before dispatch. Giving us an extremely stringent procedure to guarantee our customers, they receive the correct products always meeting the correct specifications.

OIL ANALYSIS & DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES

ROUTINE ELEMENTAL ANALYSIS

This service allows us to analyse materials to determine the full analysis of a product. We offer a typical data report for full elemental analysis

  • Viscosity Analysis
  • Density Analysis
  • Cleanliness Analysis
  • Water Content Analysis
  • Viscosity Index Analysis
  • Debris Analysis
  • Wear Metal Analysis
  • Flash Point Analysis

PROGRAMMED CONDITION MONITORING

Aligned with your production/operation facility we plan an annual programme for condition monitoring of the essential fluids. This allows for preventative maintenance to be supported fully.

  • Assist Pre Planned Maintenance
  • Reduce Waste Disposal
  • Maximise Production

DEVELOPMENT ANALYSIS

Working closely with our development team we can support the design and formulation of bespoke products to your portfolio or unique applications.

  • Unique Formulations
  • Toll Blend Contracting

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

QUENCH CURVE ANALYSIS

In heat treating, the cooling curve test is often used as a tool to compare quenchants or as a method to ensure that the quenchant being used is suitable for continued use and will satisfy current requirements.

  • Maximum cooling rate, °C/s
  • Temperature at maximum cooling rate, °C
  • Cooling rate at 300°C, °C/s
  • Time to cool to 600°C, 400°C, and 200°C/s

FOAM TESTING

The Foam Test measures the foaming tendency of a lubricant. According to this test, also referred to as ASTM D892, the tendency of oils to foam can be a serious problem in systems such as high-speed gearing, high-volume pumping, and splash lubrication.

  • Foaming Tendency ASTM
  • D892 IP 146
  • Foam Volume, mL, at end of
  • 5 min blowing period
  • Foaming Stability ASTM
  • D892 IP 146
  • Foam Volume, mL, at end of
  • 10 min setting period

XRF FULL ELEMENTAL ANALYSIS

X-ray fluorescence (XRF) is a powerful analytical instrumental method used in a wide variety of industries. In oil analysis especially, XRF techniques have gained wide acceptance. Among other applications, XRF is used to determine sulphur in petroleum products and residual catalysts, monitor additives in lubricating oils, analyse regular wear metal in lubricants and analyse wear debris.

  • Simple, fast and safe sample preparation without chemical waste
  • Non-destructive analytical technique
  • Low cost of ownership
  • Analysis at the production site (at-line)
  • No need for daily re-calibration
